The 5 Love languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts

The 5 Love languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts

Easily one of the most impactful self-help/do-it-yourself books I have ever read.  The beauty of this book doesn’t simply lie in how insightful the author is at breaking out 5 key characteristics that impact all of our relationships–it’s how many times I’ve felt motivated to re-read or brush up on what’s in this book.  This isn’t just about love-based relationships, it’s great for parsing relationships across the board.  I was able to instantly have a better understanding of my father and how he relates to me and others after reading this book.  What I find remarkable is that it’s a simple truth articulated in a way that was fresh and easy to understand.  This is a great conversation piece and a great tool to keep handy on your bookshelf.

Stealing Your Life: The Ultimate Identity Theft Prevention Plan

Stealing Your Life: The Ultimate Identity Theft Prevention Plan

I’m a pretty big Leonardo DiCaprio fan.  I also dig Tom Hanks as a dramatic actor, and some of his less popular early works like The ‘Burbs.  Both of these actors were in a movie directed by Stephen Spielberg about a young man named Frank. William Abignale, who, had become such n efficient con man, he was one of the FBI’s Most Wanted by the time he was 21.  It was a fascinating movie that seemed ridiculous at points, which made it all the more entertaining, because this movie )Catch Me If You Can) was based on a true story.  Frank W. Abignale eventually got caught, but, in doing so, became a very valuable asset for the U.S. Government and the common Joe.  Frank taught the government the tricks of the trade, and his counsel has lead to more secure checks (think watermarks), and smarter money designs to deter counterfeiting.  Frank could have just stopped there, but he also opted to become an author and speaker on fields in which he is an authority, one of which is identity theft.  Reading this book freaked me out.  A lot of what I read I was aware of on some level, but the reality of how easy it is to have a part of or your entire identity stolen is mind-boggling.  Read this book because it could one day be your saving grace.
